We need friends
There’s only one cause I truly advocate for in my life and that is the necessity of community. My friends have enabled much of my growth in the past few years simply by being themselves and embracing who I am. We ask each other uncomfortable questions but also provide the safe space to answer honestly.
The problem with family is that they hold on to an unrealistic version of you. Most parents struggle to see their kids for who they are because they carry an image of who they should be. This is often the case in romantic relationships too.
As the struggles of life pile up you need people you’re going to cry to and cry with. You need people who will sit through long calls with you while you work out your life. You need people who are going to be interested in your growth.
I see the fuss about finding true love, but there’s a great need for genuine friendship. After all your friends might lead you to your true love.
