Deepening Relationships
Social media has negatively impacted the depth of our relationships. We want to be connected and known by as many people as possible. Without taking the time to truly know and be known by them. Intimacy requires authenticity. To love someone deeply, you must know them. Their flaws, struggles and joys. There’s no intimacy without vulnerability.
One of the requirements for a deep relationship is intimacy. In an age where ghosting and cutting off people is very popular, we no longer know or understand what holding space and acceptance mean. We’re imperfect. No one person is perfectly suitable for another. All relationships need work. Even familial relationships. And intimacy requires time, trust and safety.
Relationships are fragile. Fostering a community of people who will hold space for you, be truthful with you and love you even at your lowest needs intimacy and acceptance. When we disagree with the people we love sometimes an honest conversation and time apart is all that’s needed to fix the relationship.
